It gives me immense pleasure to learn that CJMC is going to proudly celebrate its 10th Anniversary on 27th Poush 2067.On this auspicious occasion, I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations to the college on successfully completing a decade in producing proficient media professionals required in the nation.

CJMC is the pioneer college in Nepal that offers master's degrees in journalism and mass communication education. I can sense that the college must have gone through inexplicable hardships and difficulties from the time of its inception, for it has been founded on individualinitiative and lonely efforts. Nevertheless, battling against tangible and intangible hurdlescoming in its way, the college has come a long way and attained remarkable achievements, for which it genuinelydeserves a great deal of accolades.

Lastly, assuring the college of every kind of help and support from the Ministry of Education in its strides to lead thecollege to the acme, I hope that the upcoming 10th Anniversary will add more vigor and enthusiasm to all associated with the college and wish the Anniversary program a grand success.

When Dr. Manju Mishra asked me to write a few words for her forthcoming magazine, suddenly my memories flashed back to eleven years ago.

One day a lady, whom I did not know, came to my office and said she wanted to run a college of Journalism and Communication. Then I was the vice – chancellor at Purbanchal University. I did not say no, but had strong doubts that she would be able to run an institute. As vice- chancellor of a new university, I always wanted to run new courses which Tribhuvan University did not have or in which the need of manpower was more. Obviously journalism was one such area. She was very strong in her will and was constantly asking for it. Finally, I decided to allow two institutes to run Master's level courses in Mass Communication and Journalism. Thus I gave her affiliation, given her commitment, sincerity, educational background and will power.

Now, after one decade, when I see the progress made by her college and her enthusiasm, will power and driving force in her, I feel that it would have been a blunder had she not been allowed to open a college, and the nation as a whole would have been deprived of the benefit in the field of journalism and communication. I wish continued progress of the institution.

CJMC is a leading journalism college in Nepal with an established academic tradition. I am proud to be a part of this vibrant institution as a visiting faculty in Media Law and South Asian Journalism.

There is a very congenial environment here for learning journalism and media. It is high time a University of Mass Communication and Journalism was established in Nepal, and CJMC gives me the impression that this institution is capable of transforming itself into one such university given the dedication shown by Dr. Manju Mishra, the founder of the college.

CJMC had started with a small number of students in the beginning, and gradually it extended its program and scope of teaching. In my opinion, it has a good future in terms of its collaboration and networking with international institutions with similar features.

It has conducted faculty exchange programs as well as other exchange programs with international universities and similar institutions.CJMC also runs a FM Radio that is 106....which has larger social and academic impact on the community within the Kathmandu Valley.I extend my sincere congatulation to CJMC and wish it success in providing media education in this country.

The Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) is the umbrella organization of all media persons involved in the different fields of journalism and mass communication. It believes in high quality professional journalism that is possible only when there is proper media education. CJMC is a pioneer in the field of media education in Nepal in the private sector. It is the one and only full-fledged college of mass communication and has been contributing a lot to uplifting the quality of Nepalese journalism.

FNJ and CJMC have signed a MoU to move ahead together. Accordingly, CJMC will provide us scholarships and we will cooperate from our side as a partner. I would like to convey my sincere congratulations to the college for its one decade of glorious journey in Nepalese formal media education and wish it an ever more successful journey in the days to come.
